Colorado Water-Wise Landscaping Law (SB24-005)

Colorado passed Senate Bill 24-005 to promote water-wise landscaping across the state. Beginning in 2026, local governments must limit the installation of “nonfunctional turf” in new commercial developments, HOA common areas, medians, and similar spaces.
Residential yards are not affected, and existing landscaping can remain. The law will guide how communities like Timnath update landscaping standards in future development projects.
